Mission
To provide knowledge, hope, and community to Iowans with OCD and related disorders. As a regional affiliate of the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF), we promote early identification, access to effective care, and a more accurate public understanding of OCD through statewide education, advocacy, support, and resource-sharing.
Vision
We envision a future where:
- All Iowans recognize OCD as a serious but treatable mental health condition
- Individuals living with OCD receive timely, evidence-based care
- Families, educators, and providers are equipped with tools and training to support those affected by OCD
- Stigma surrounding OCD and related disorders is replaced by empathy, knowledge, and action
We work to make this vision a reality by:
- Raising Awareness: Increasing public awareness through education, outreach, and storytelling that challenges stigma and misconceptions
- Advocating for Access: Supporting policies and partnerships that reduce barriers to timely diagnosis and treatment
- Connecting Iowans to Resources: Providing up-to-date, evidence-based information and provider directories for individuals, families, and schools
- Supporting Local Professionals: Offering education and training to increase the availability of OCD-informed care
- Building Community: Creating spaces for connection, encouragement, and collective impact
About the IOCDF
From the organization: “The International OCD Foundation is a donor-supported nonprofit organization. Founded in 1986 by a small group of individuals with OCD, the Foundation has grown into an international membership-based organization serving a broad community of individuals with OCD and related disorders their family members and loved ones and mental health professionals and researchers.
